It's the first full week of June and the anime and manga world is absolutely buzzing. From a blockbuster global tour announcement to a legendary manga reaching its final chapter, this week's news cycle has something for every kind of fan. Let's break it all down.

Kagurabachi Anime World Tour Kicks Off This Summer

The biggest announcement of the week goes to Kagurabachi. The red-hot Shonen Jump series is getting a full-blown Anime World Tour ahead of its April 2027 broadcast premiere, and the scale of it is seriously impressive.

Starting this July, fans around the globe will get to see the first 20 minutes of Episode 1 at major conventions worldwide:

  • Anime Expo (Los Angeles) — July 3, 2026

  • Japan Expo (Paris) — July 9, 2026

  • AnimagiC (Mannheim, Germany) — August 1, 2026

  • Anime NYC (New York) — August 22, 2026

Select locations will also host special panel sessions featuring voice actor Taihi Kimura (who plays protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira), manga editor Takurō Imamura, and key producers from the production team.

The anime is being produced by studio Cypic, with Tetsuya Takeuchi directing and Keigo Sasaki handling character designs. This is officially labeled as "Part 1" of the world tour — meaning a Japan-based conclusion is expected in spring 2027, likely coinciding with the full premiere.

Kagurabachi has been one of the most consistently hyped new-gen manga since its debut, and this kind of global rollout signals that the production committee is going all-in on making this a worldwide event.

Space Brothers Ends After 17 Years of Serialization

One of manga's most beloved and quietly brilliant series is coming to a close. Space Brothers (Uchū Kyōdai) by Chūya Koyama will publish its final chapter on June 11, 2026 in the 28th issue of Kodansha's Morning magazine.

The series, which began in 2007, follows brothers Mutta and Hibito Nanba on their journey to become astronauts. It's been praised for its grounded realism, emotional depth, and its genuine love for the science of space exploration. Over its nearly two-decade run, Space Brothers became a cultural touchstone — inspiring real-life interest in JAXA and space careers across Japan.

The 46th and final compiled volume is scheduled for release on July 23, 2026.

If you've been sleeping on Space Brothers, this is your sign. It's one of the greatest slice-of-life manga ever written, and now you can experience the complete story from start to finish.

Hunter x Hunter Volume 39 Dated for July 3

Hunter x Hunter fans, mark your calendars. Volume 39 is officially releasing in Japan on July 3, 2026 — the first new tankōbon in nearly 22 months, following Volume 38's release back in September 2024.

Yoshihiro Togashi's legendary series continues to be one of the most anticipated manga releases every time new content drops, and the Succession Contest arc remains one of the most complex and ambitious storylines in shonen history. Whether you love the intricate political scheming or are just desperate for any new content from Togashi, this one's a must-buy.

DAN DA DAN Surpasses 14 Million Copies in Circulation

DAN DA DAN continues its meteoric rise. The series by Yukinobu Tatsu has officially surpassed 14 million copies in cumulative circulation worldwide, coinciding with the release of its 24th volume on June 4, 2026.

The announcement was made via the series' official X (formerly Twitter) account. DAN DA DAN's unique blend of supernatural action, sci-fi weirdness, and genuine emotional storytelling has made it one of the standout manga of the current generation — and with the anime adaptation continuing to bring in new fans, those numbers are only going to climb.

Crunchyroll Massively Expands Its Manga Library

In a major move for digital manga readers, Crunchyroll is expanding its manga catalog with a wave of Kodansha USA titles starting June 8, 2026. The new additions include some absolute classics:

  • A Silent Voice — Yoshitoki Ōima's masterpiece about redemption and disability

  • Land of the Lustrous — Haruko Ichikawa's stunning gem-people saga

  • Fairy Tail — Hiro Mashima's iconic adventure series

  • Ajin: Demi-Human — The dark supernatural thriller

  • Battle Angel Alita: Last Order Omnibus — Yukito Kishiro's cyberpunk classic

This is a significant expansion that positions Crunchyroll as an increasingly serious competitor in the digital manga space, not just anime streaming.
